First and foremost, thank you to those of you who joined the free online course AND welcome to those who are new here!
Online course creation has been a year in the works. I’ve been working on ways to share my knowledge and experience with as many people as possible! If you know me, you know my driver in my life is to help people find the joy in physical activity and moving their bodies. When the opportunity to create a course was literally in my face, I decided to jump in with both feet and produce something that wasn't even on my radar a month ago. Truth be told, this last week was a large learning curve. My idea to build and share a free online course was a large leap forward. Hiccups and uncertainties,I forged ahead with putting something out there that I believe could be helpful for many. I'm an open book. 📖 Ready to share what I have with you. New technology, fears and all. It is a privilege to land in your inbox and please know that you decide whether or not I am here. I love to share all things physical activity related, so stick around! If you haven’t yet enrolled in the free online course - Top 3 Problems With Outdoor Walking: An detailed guide to the unexpected tips about outdoor walking - know that you still can access it here. If you have worked through the course, please reply back to this email with any feedback you may have. And as I do, here are a few more resources that you may find interesting that I found this week: U of C's CovidCast Episode 2 A podcast with guest, Dr. Tish Doyle-Baker, who is a researcher in physical activity and public health (and a great colleague of mine), about Covid-19 and physical activity A Call to Action: Physical Activity and COVID-19 A great summary from the American College of Sports Medicine outlining the benefits of physical activity during the pandemic Physical Activity Forum: Living Actively with a Chronic Condition A free online half-day conference on May 5 with the focus on the science and best practices around being physically active when living with one of the following chronic conditions: cancer, chronic heart failure, or stroke That's it from me. Again, I'd love to hear what you think about the free online course. If you have any suggestions for future online courses, be sure to let me know. Stay well and happy moving, Lisa P.S. Looking for inspiration to get moving? Head on over to the Why I Move Project. It's my passion project of curating stories of WHY people are physically active. Care to share? I always love hearing your stories.

I'm lucky to have a large front window in my house. It allows me to see out into the world. Recently I went back to watch some videos of my babies (now almost 6 and 8 years old) and realized how much our front window played into their little view of the world. Below is Ben watching his brother, Liam, learn how to ride his bike. It's Ben's turn this year without training wheels! 💗 In the current situation, we again are using our front window as a source of information about the world. Watching the glistening snowflakes (yes, you read right - snow in April!) and all of our neighbourhood dogs and their owners out for walks. People, maybe like yourself, have used outdoor walking during the time of social distancing. It got me thinking... How can I share my knowledge of walking with the new found outdoor walking world? Here is the CARROT! 🥕 I created a free mini course to help the beginner to the fit walkers work through some of the problems they may encounter with all this outdoor walking. 💥 Click here for your unique access to the free mini course! 💥 If you know any walkers out there - friends, neighbours, family - they can sign up for my newsletter and get access to the free mini course too. We can can do our part during these challenging days! And if you are still winter walking like me, check out this video I created for the Centre for Active Living some years ago! Stay well and happy moving, Lisa |
