Introduction to Yoga & Exercise Science (Yoga Workshops)
Join Lisa this fall and winter (2021) for her Introduction to Yoga and Exercise Science Workshops! The four workshops focus on 3 main parts of bodily movement:
AFLCA Cycle Designation A minimum 8 hour course covering topics specific to leading group exercise cycling classes. This practical course will cover specific information for planning and developing recreational indoor cycling classes that are enjoyable, safe, and fun for your participants. Topics include:
bike set-up and safety,
pedaling,
cadence,
posture,
class structure, content, and components,
music,
leadership,
choreography design and movement combinations,
cardiovascular conditioning,
and, cueing.
AFLCA Cycle Level 2 Workshop A course designed for experienced group cycling leaders who are looking for the link between practical drills and human exercise physiology. While learning the scientific explanation behind our drills, you will be equipped with a whole new toolbox for creative class design.
AFLCA's Practitioners' Functional Independence Training Program Leading Older Adults Through Exercise This certification of completion course is for leaders and practitioners leading older adult exercise programs within the community or seniors’ facilities. This course will provide you with hands-on learning. Course content includes: • General guidelines for practical, safe, and appropriate movements, • equipment recommendations, • endurance, strengthening, flexibility, and balance activities, • fall prevention strategies, • and, general safety considerations for Older Adult Physical Activity Programs The adaptable functional exercises are designed to enhance your current programming. This course will complement your AFLCA Ever Active Adults and/or AFLCA Fitness For the Older Adult certifications, and will serve as an AFLCA recertification course. AFLCA Exercise Theory Course & AFLCA Group Exercise Fundamentals Exercise Theory and Group Exercise Fundamentals are required for AFLCA certification. Those who are taking the Group Exercise Leadership route must also take a practical course in at least one area of specialization. These include:
Portable Exercise Equipment,
Cycle,
Choreography,
Mind/Body,
and/or Step.
